JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - A judge has taken under advisement a change of venue request from the suspect in the shooting death of Missouri Southern University assistant football coach Derek Moore.

Jasper County Circuit Judge Gayle Crane on Monday also denied a request for a bond reduction for 40-year-old Jeffrey Bruner, who is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in Moore’s death.

Moore was killed last year near a theater in Joplin, where he had seen a movie with Bruner’s estranged wife.

The Joplin Globe reports (https://bit.ly/1mV3HkA ) Bruner’s attorney claimed pretrial publicity made it impossible for Crane to receive a fair trial in Jasper County.

Crane ruled Bruner will continue to be held on $1 million bond.
