2. SPRING BROKEN AT UC SANTA BARBARA
A weekend party-turned melee near the University of California, Santa Barbara led to about 100 arrests and dozens of people were taken to hospitals after students threw rocks and bottles and police used tear gas and projectiles to break them up.
3. FALCON NESTING
It’s nesting season for the peregrine falcon. A section of the Sequoia National Forest and surrounding areas are closed to the public until August to provide privacy for the birds.
4. CAREY MAKES ’PRICE’ HIS OWN
The “Price is Right” has turned into a party in the hands of host Drew Carey. The show makes so much noise that nearby soap operas have to adjust their taping schedules because of the noise. The show’s 8,000th episode aired Monday.
5. BIG PHARMA DEAL UNITES CALIFORNIA AND IRELAND
Mallinckrodt is buying California-based Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc. for a combination of stock and cash valued at about $5.2 billion that will help to diversify further the Irish company’s business.
