JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - A change of venue hearing is scheduled for a Joplin man charged in last year’s shooting death of a Missouri Southern State University assistant football coach.

Jeffrey Bruner is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Nov. 1 shooting death of 37-year-old Derek Moore. Moore was shot to death outside a Joplin movie theater, where he had gone with Bruner’s estranged wife. Moore was in his first year at Missouri Southern as an offensive line coach.

Bruner pleaded not guilty earlier to the charges and has been in custody since his arrest shortly after the shooting.

Online court records show Bruner’s change of venue hearing is set for Monday morning in Jasper County court.
