PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have charged a 33-year-old man who allegedly hit a good Samaritan at the scene of a deadly crash on a Phoenix interstate.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves says Alberto Lopez-Ruelas was booked on a felony hit-and-run charge Saturday.

DPS officers say a woman lost control of her Chevrolet Malibu just before 5:20 a.m. on I-17 near Thunderbird Road and hit a median.

The say another car struck her vehicle, causing her female passenger to be ejected and then fatally struck by multiple cars.

Graves says a man stopped to offer assistance when he was hit by Ruelas, who left the scene but returned.

Authorities say the Malibu driver, who was impaired by alcohol, will be charged with manslaughter.

Graves says the good Samaritan suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
