FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A former North Dakota State University football player tried to sell one of his championship rings.

Former Bison linebacker Antonio Rodgers posted his 2011-2012 FCS Championship ring on eBay for sale. He removed it Friday morning.

Rodgers is a senior at NDSU and is still on scholarship for a few more months. WDAY-TV reports that NCAA rules prohibit players under scholarship from selling merchandise.

NDSU media relations say Rodgers took the ring off eBay Friday morning after they asked him to.

The starting bid for the ring was listed at $5,000.
