CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Education is seeking more information from the Wyoming Department of Education on its spending of federal funds under Superintendent Cindy Hill.

The questions cover some of the topics raised in an independent audit that covered state agency spending for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2012.

The audit says some federal money provided the state may have to be repaid because of management decisions during the Hill administration.

Hill said in a statement to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle (https://gftrib.com/1mMzYdM) that the U.S. Education Department questions stem from what she calls sloppy, vague and unsupported opinions by a state education department employee.

The state agency has until April 14 to respond.
