HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Authorities are investigating house fires in Hammond and Abbeville. Each killed a man whose body was found after the fire was out.

The state fire marshal’s office says 74-year-old Nathaniel Kelly Sr.’s body was found late Friday in a bedroom of the house where he lived alone in Hammond. Investigators say the fire started in a hall, but the fire’s cause had not been determined Saturday.

The Advertiser (https://bit.ly/1hgOdIi ) reports that Abbeville firefighters found the body of 48-year-old Stephen Harbst in what was left of a two-bedroom house which had no electrical service and little furniture. Investigators found candles in several rooms, and the remains of a candle and a small camp stove in the living room, where the fire started. However, cause was listed as undetermined.
