DENVER (AP) - Xcel Energy wants more consumers to pay for solar power.
Under a proposed program, customers could subscribe for a portion of the capacity from a large-scale solar plant.
The program is similar to Xcel’s Wind Source program, which has about 35,000 residential consumers and 1,000 businesses paying a premium to guarantee some or all of the electricity they use is generated by wind.
The Denver Post reports (https://tinyurl.com/mjlda8v ) the program still must be approved by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
