MARQUETTE, Mich. (AP) - A band of cold, wet weather has dumped a foot or more of snow in Michigan’s western Upper Peninsula, and a second wave threatens to leave several more inches overnight.
National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Kluber in Marquette says 12 inches to 16 inches of snow had fallen through Friday afternoon, with areas around Ironwood and the Keweenaw Peninsula leading the way. Driving conditions are hazardous.
Kluber says some places had 40 inches of snow on the ground before the storm rolled through.
The storm moving through the Great Lakes region also left as much as 5 inches of snow in the eastern Upper Peninsula. More is expected.
