YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - In a novel approach to getting police attention, authorities in Yakima, Wash., say a 36-year-old man rammed a police vehicle with his pickup truck and said he needed protection.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports (https://is.gd/8FIlAy ) that the Thursday afternoon crash damaged a rear door and back quarter panel on Officer Marc Scherzinger’s car. No one was hurt.
Police Capt. Rod Light says the man told officers he just got out of federal prison in California “and thought he needed protection from death threats.”
The man was arrested for investigation of second-degree malicious mischief and second-degree assault.
