PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A 31-year-old central Illinois man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the 2013 shooting death of his wife.
The (Peoria) Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1pZuXP7 ) Matthew A. Malcom was sentenced Thursday after he pleaded guilty to a single count of first-degree murder. His plea was part of a deal with prosecutors.
Thirty-one-year-old Heather Malcom died in February 2013. An autopsy showed she died from a single shotgun wound to the head.
Prosecutors say the Peoria couple had been arguing before the shooting.
