GLASGOW, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are investigating why a Barren County Sheriff’s deputy drove off the road and crashed, killing himself.

WBKO-TV in Bowling Green reported (https://bit.ly/1gVtHfn ) that Ernest Franklin, a deputy since 2006, swerved off Highway 90 in southern Kentucky on Wednesday and hit an embankment before stopping in a pond.

Troopers are trying to determine why Franklin drove off the road.



Franklin worked for the department serving papers.

No one else was injured during the accident.
