ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have released the name of a motorcyclist who died after a collision with a van.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro identifies the motorcyclist as 27-year-old Robert Firlan of Anchorage.

KTUU (https://is.gd/g0m9ln) reports police were notified shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday about the collision at the intersection of C Street and Eighth Avenue.



Castro says the driver of the van was not critically injured.

Castro says the motorcycle was heading south on C Street and the van was traveling east on Eighth Avenue when the two vehicles collided at the intersection.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a local hospital and subsequently was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
