PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - A Pascagoula man will serve 15 years in prison for carjacking a woman, then abandoning her 3-year-old on the side of the road in Jackson County just before Christmas 2012.
Bradley Scott Hilsabeck, 27, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of kidnapping and one count of carjacking before Circuit Judge Richard McKenzie. Hilsabeck also will be on post release supervision for 15 years.
Hilsabeck is currently serving out a seven-year revocation sentence on a prior burglary charge.
The charges stemmed from a Dec. 23, 2012, carjacking at Walgreens drug store in Pascagoula.
Prosecutors said when Hilsabeck carjacked the woman, she managed to grab her infant son, but wasn’t able to unbuckle her toddler from the car seat fast enough. Hilsabeck took off, then later realized the child was still with him. That’s when he left the child and the car seat in a rural area of east Jackson County, prosecutors said.
Authorities found the child unharmed, still in her car seat where Hilsabeck left her.
