LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - Livingston Parish’s Charter Review Commission has vowed to finish the job of recommending changes to the parish’s Home Rule Charter, despite the replacement of nearly half the board’s members in the past month.
Meeting for the first time since five of its 10 members resigned, the commission voted 8-0 Tuesday to recommend the parish council be allowed the option of creating an in-house legal department.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1rNT3z2 ) the commission’s recommendations will go to the parish council for review and possible placement on a future election ballot, giving parish voters the final say on which changes are ultimately adopted.
The commission set a revised deadline of June 12 for having all recommendations to the council.
