GAUTIER, Miss. (AP) - The storms that swept through Mississippi’s coast shut down the Jackson County animal shelter for a day.

Director Diane Robinson tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1fvATA0 ) that an early-morning storm Tuesday cut off electricity to the shelter in Gautier (GOH-shay).

And without power for the shelter’s well, says Robinson, there was no water to clean animal pens.

She says there was plenty of bottled water for the cats, dogs, kittens and puppies.
