BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Schools are closing and delaying classes because of the severe weather across Alabama.

Students will have the day off Tuesday in places including Lawrence, Limestone, Morgan and Tuscaloosa counties. All three areas had damage reports on Monday.

Meanwhile, schools are opening late in systems including Alexander City, Chilton and Colbert counties and Troy. Storms could still be rolling through those areas when students normally would be headed out from home.

Forecasters say still more storms are predicted through Wednesday, and heavy rains will likely cause flash flooding.

Gov. Robert Bentley has issued a state of emergency for all 67 Alabama counties because of the storms.
