ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) - A Norton man police say was drunk when he sped through a red light and caused a fatal accident in Mansfield last weekend has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say 23-year-old Nicholas Salvo caused the accident just before midnight Friday that claimed the life of 63-year-old David Munise of Raynham.
Prosecutors said in court Monday that Salvo was still above the legal limit to drive when he was tested six hours after the crash at a hospital.
Salvo remains free on $10,000 bail after pleading not guilty to charges including motor vehicle homicide while driving drunk.
Salvo’s lawyer says his client is a college student with a job at a bank from a tight-knit family with no prior criminal record.
