WAYNESBORO, Miss. (AP) - The National Weather Service says 10 people were injured when a possible tornado or straight line winds moved over Wayne County in southeast Mississippi.

Meteorologist John Purdy in Mobile, Ala., says 4 people were injured Monday night when a car struck a downed tree on Highway 45 south of Waynesboro. He says the injuries were all minor.

Purdy says emergency management in Wayne County reported 10 homes were damage with 6 minor injuries.



He says the damage was spread from the northwest portion of the county to the southeast.

Purdy says the county was under a tornado warning at the time the damage was reported.

Trees and power lines also were down across the county.
