THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies say Thibodaux woman has been arrested in the alleged theft of more than $12,000 from an elderly man.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1iwIbmG ) 44-year-old Susan Arcement faces over 40 felony counts.

Earlier this month, deputies say a man in his 70s reported several checks totaling over $12,000 were illegally written from his bank account with a forged signature during March.



Deputies said they learned 21 checks had been stolen and used, and many were allegedly written to Arcement.

She was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop in Thibodaux. She was booked on warrants for 21 counts of exploitation of the infirmed and 21 counts of forgery.

Arcement is being held on a $30,000 bond in the parish jail.

It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
