QUAPAW, Okla. (AP) - The American Red Cross says one person sought shelter Sunday night following a tornado in Quapaw.
More than a dozen people were killed when tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma and Arkansas on Sunday. Numerous buildings and homes were also destroyed or damaged.
KOTV in Tulsa reports (https://bit.ly/1ivQv6f) that a shelter has been opened up at the Quapaw Tribe’s Wellness Center. About 200 people have turned up at the shelter for food.
The Red Cross has eight volunteers working at the shelter and it will remain open as long as needed.
