CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The acting president at Western Nevada College will serve as the interim president for the next two years while the Board of Regents conducts a national search for a permanent leader.
The regents named Chet Burton to the interim post on Friday. He has been serving as acting president since December, when Carol Lucey resigned. His new appointment is effective through June 30, 2016.
Chancellor Dan Klaich says Burton’s experience tackling the college’s tough budget issues uniquely qualifies him for the post.
Burton has been at WNC since 2009 in several top positions. He also spent 20 years in the Navy, including assignments at the Pentagon, and worked as the controller and finance director for International Game Technology headquartered in Reno.
