JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant has mobilized the National Guard to help with relief efforts in Lee and Winston counties after Monday’s tornadoes.

In Lee County, major damage and injuries were reported in Tupelo. Widespread damage and injuries also were reported in the Winston County city of Louisville.

The Highway Patrol also was sending additional personnel to those areas, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.



A shelter was opened in Tupelo at the BancorpSouth Building on East Main Street.
