BATESVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The national weather service in Memphis, Tenn., has issued a tornado warning until 6:45 p.m. for Panola County.
Forecasters say that just before 6 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm producing a tornado near Curtis Station, or 13 miles west of Batesville. The weather service says it was moving northeast at 25 mph.
The warning area includes Batesville and John W. Kyle State Park.
The weather service says that if no storm shelter is available, people in the warning area should seek shelter on the lowest floor of a building in an interior hallway, closet or small room.
