HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters are expecting rain and flash flooding in some parts of north Alabama as a slow moving storm system moves through the Tennessee Valley.

National Weather Service officials in Huntsville issued a flash flood watch covering several areas of the state including Colbert, Cullman, Lauderdale and Limestone counties.

Forecasters say a strong, slow moving storm system expected to move through the Tennessee Valley by Monday morning could drench some parts of the state in between 3 and 5 inches of rain. Officials say rain is expected to be heaviest between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Meteorologists say heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in local creeks, streams and rivers. Low lying areas and areas with poor drainage could also see flash flooding.
