OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center says there’s a high risk of severe storms in much of central Arkansas.
Forecasters say the chances of severe weather Sunday is intensifying in Arkansas and adjacent states. They say there’s a moderate risk of severe weather in parts of Arkansas and northeastern Texas, far eastern Oklahoma and southern Missouri through Sunday night.
The greatest tornado risk is in Arkansas, where a few strong tornadoes are possible.
The country has not had a tornado rated EF3 or higher since Nov. 17, during an outbreak in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. Through Saturday that’s 160 days, the fourth-longest stretch on record without a tornado that strong.
Sunday marks the three-year anniversary of the Dixie tornado outbreak, which killed 316 people in Alabama and other areas.
