ELGIN, Ill. (AP) - Police in the Chicago suburb of Elgin are investigating the death of a man who was struck by a freight train after he fell off his bicycle.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald (https://bit.ly/1pE9hNB) reports that officials say the man was riding across the railroad tracks shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday when he fell off his bicycle and was hit by the train.

Police have not identified the man pending the notification of next of kin.



The department’s traffic unit and Canadian Pacific Police Service are conducting the investigation.
