DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - Delaware environmental officials say nearly 150 pounds of sulfur dioxide and fuel have been released into the air at the Delaware City Refinery.
WDEL-AM reports (https://bit.ly/1inIekK ) that the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control said that the release happened late Friday night just before midnight and was due to a failed control valve
The incident at the facility on Wrangle Hill Road is under investigation.
The release comes just about a week after the refinery released nearly 200 pounds of sulfur dioxide into the air. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control had said the earlier release was caused by a mechanical problem that was corrected.
