SHIRLEY, N.Y. (AP) - Police on New York’s Long Island say a motorcyclist has been arrested after he was clocked traveling 110 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.

Suffolk County Police also say Salvatore Crimi Jr. wasn’t wearing a helmet as he drove along the William Floyd Parkway at about 4:50 p.m. Friday. They say an officer followed him for about a mile and a half before he pulled over.

They say Crimi didn’t have a license to drive a motorcycle and the vehicle wasn’t registered or insured. They say it also had no licenses plates.

Crimi’s been charged with reckless driving and is being held overnight. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The 24-year-old Shirley man is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday.
