DETROIT (AP) - A lawsuit has been filed against the Detroit retirement home where a 67-year-old man killed two women.

The family of Maria Gonzalez is suing Pablo Davis Elder Living Center, a property management firm and Mike Reda.

Reda was sentenced Thursday to life in prison in the shooting deaths of the 61-year-old Gonzalez and 59-year-old Deborah Socia.

The lawsuit, filed this week in Wayne County, claims property managers didn’t seek help from police to prevent the deaths. Gonzalez’ family says managers knew about Reda’s previous threats against tenants with a rifle.

A woman who identified herself as the apartment manager says she isn’t aware of the lawsuit. She declined to give her name.
