SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls family has been displaced after a motorist drove into their house.

Police responded to the scene around 1:20 a.m. Thursday. Authorities say the car crashed into the house and through a garage, hitting the bedroom of the family’s two children.

The children were sleeping in the room at the time of the crash but weren’t injured.

Sgt. Matt Burns says 21-year-old Givara Paulo Zaki has been cited with reckless driving. Burns says Zaki resides at the home and was not under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.

The Red Cross is assisting the family of four with temporary housing.

The relationship between Zaki and the children was not immediately clear.
