LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville has hired Kenny Johnson as a Cardinals assistant coach.

Johnson had been an assistant and recruiting coordinator the past two years at Indiana, putting together top-20 recruiting classes both seasons, including a top-five group last year. The Hoosiers went 46-22 during his time under Tom Crean, winning the Big Ten Conference title and earning a No. 1 seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

Johnson said Wednesday at his introductory news conference that he “jumped at the opportunity” to work for Cardinals coach Rick Pitino and “learn from a Hall of Fame coach.”

Johnson also worked as an assistant at Towson. He replaces Kevin Keatts, who left to become coach at UNC-Wilmington.
