DARTMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - A high-profile professor at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth says he’s joining a recent exodus of faculty he blames on “habitually abusive treatment” by the school’s chancellor.
Clyde Barrow, a gambling expert whose studies of the industry are frequently cited in the media, said in a resignation letter Monday that he is latest to be driven out by Chancellor Divina Grossman.
Barrow, director of the university’s Center for Policy Analysis, says he has accepted a job at a sunbelt state university.
A spokesman for Grossman tells The Standard Times (https://bit.ly/1eZBmdV ) that Barrow’s resignation statement is riddled with “factual inaccuracies and misleading statements” and comes at a time when the relationship between the center and Barrow’s business consulting firm are being scrutinized.
Barrow says he has always been open about his consulting activities.
