OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Jackson County supervisors will hold a public meeting April 29 to discuss a proposed $600,000 water project in Ocean Springs.

The project will extend Ocean Springs’ municipal water service to a subdivision outside the city limits.

The Mississippi Press reports (https://bit.ly/1nkmoRQ ) the board of supervisors may apply for a grant up to $600,000 from the state to install new water trunk lines attached to the City of Ocean Springs water system.

The project will benefit residents currently located in the Colonial Estates Subdivision. The subdivision sits just outside the current city limits. These residents are currently unserved by public water in Jackson County.

The state has $12.4 million available to cities and counties on a competitive basis to undertake eligible public facilities activities.
