RANKIN, Texas (AP) - Officials say an equipment-related drilling rig accident in West Texas has left an oilfield worker dead.

The Upton County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday did not immediately release the name of the man who died.

Investigators say the accident happened Sunday night at a site about 25 miles north of Rankin. Chief Deputy Jason Hazlewood says nobody else was hurt. The victim was dead at the scene.

Further details weren’t immediately available.
