ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the 2011 stabbing death of his father.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1hkkyZi ) Steven Cole was sentenced Monday as part of a deal with prosecutors.

The 43-year-old former mixed martial arts fighter was charged with killing his father, 69-year-old Stuart Cole, in the family’s Arlington Heights home. Prosecutors say the older man had been beaten and stabbed as many as 20 times.



Steven Cole faced between 20 and 60 years in prison.
