FRANKFORT, Ind. (AP) - State officials say a pork products producer will open a warehouse in Frankfort, creating up to 98 jobs by 2016.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said Monday that Indiana Packers Corp., a subsidiary of Japan-based Mitsubishi Corp., will invest $2.3 million to buy, renovate and equip a 56,000 square-foot plant to ship pork products and receive materials. The new plant is expected to begin operations in August.
The agency said it offered Indiana Packers up to $400,000 in tax credits and up to $140,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. The city of Frankfort, about 40 miles northwest of Indianapolis, will consider additional property tax abatement for the company.
Indiana Packers operates a large pork processing plant in nearby Delphi. It has 2,000 Indiana employees.
