WARREN, Mich. (AP) - A 20-year-old Detroit-area woman has been charged with assault after an online video shows her 14-year-old cousin being struck with belts.
The Macomb County prosecutor’s office announced the charge Monday against Tajenae Grady of Redford. A 16-year-old boy is being charged as a juvenile.
The incident occurred at a home in Warren. Prosecutor Eric Smith says a 12-year-old relative recorded the beating on a phone and distributed it to neighbors. It eventually ended up on Facebook.
Smith says the beating “shocks the conscience.”
But Grady’s mother, Demetria Grady, says they were just playing. She says there was “no harm, no bruises, no nothing.”
