NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - A New Britain man has been charged with murder in the strangulation death of his 33-year-old female roommate.
Luis Velez was charged on Saturday.
Police are not releasing the victim’s identity until family members have been notified.
Capt. Thomas Steck says officers responded early Saturday morning after receiving a call from Velez’s relatives saying he was despondent and may be a danger to himself or others.
The 41-year-old Velez was held on $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court Monday.
It was not known Sunday if he’s represented by a lawyer.
