LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A Lafayette man who pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl has been sentenced to a full 42 years in prison under his plea agreement in the case.

Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington tells the Journal and Courier (https://on.jconline.com/Ph4Nvm ) 34-year-old Jeremy D. Stansberry will be at least 76 when he’s released from state prison.

Stansberry had pleaded guilty in March to child molesting and rape for sexually assaulting the 15-year-old victim.

A judge sentenced him Thursday to 40 years in prison for child molesting and 16 years for rape, with those sentences to be served consecutively.

Stansberry’s child molesting sentence won’t be eligible for one day of credit for each day served. Harrington says that means he’ll serve a total time on that charge of 42 years.
