COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen has retired.

WCBI TV reports (https://bit.ly/1jQ6Amr ) McQueen turned in his badge, keys and other personal belongings Thursday afternoon.

McQueen served as the Columbus police chief since December of 2011.



Assistant Chief Joe Johnson will be the interim until Mayor Robert Smith and board members decide on a candidate.

McQueen served on the police force for 28 years.
