GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A Weld County judge may be asked to stop a handful of Weld County communities from unseating the High Plains Library District’s board of trustees.
According to the Greeley Tribune (https://tinyurl.com/ps2pub9 ), Weld County commissioners, Fort Lupton, the Fort Lupton Re-8 School District Board of Education, Eaton, Hudson and Ault have passed similar resolutions seeking to appoint new trustees to the seven-member board. They complain they don’t have enough representation on the board, which controls branch libraries.
A formal complaint contends some member communities violated state law by trying to change the High Plains bylaws by failing to include communities initially included in talks forming the library district. Others say potential new board members don’t have enough experience to run libraries.
