ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (SHNEYE’-dur-muhn) has reported income of $297,836 in his third year as the state’s top lawyer, including nearly $43,000 from dividends and $98,000 in capital gains on investments.
Schneiderman, who has investigated the 2008 collapse of mortgage-backed securities that contributed to the recession, invests in mutual funds handled by financial manager Charles Schwab.
His 2013 federal return shows $156,881 from salary and the capital gains from selling nearly $1.3 million in mutual funds. Federal taxes are $62,534.
His tax return last year showed $242,616 of income, including $150,530 from salary, $46,000 from dividends and $40,000 in capital gains.
The Manhattan resident reports $56,893 of itemized deductions last year.
His state return shows $18,950 in state and $9,974 in city income taxes.
