LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) - Students at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus say they want more services.

Meeting Friday with USM President Rodney Bennett, the Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1lUy6Q8) they sought better health, fitness and food services.

Bennett says a clinic and gym will open on the Long Beach campus in August.

Student Government Association President LaQuita Gresham says students have been trying to meet with Bennett since February. She and others posted flyers urging students to attend a meeting Bennett had scheduled with Gulf Park faculty.

Gresham says Gulf Park students feel like they don’t get the same amenities for their tuition dollars as students at USM’s Hattiesburg campus. Bennett says money at commuter-oriented Gulf Park is spent to offer more classes.

Another forum has been scheduled for April 22.
