PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien plans to kick off his campaign for a second term.

The 46-year-old Democrat says he’ll have a formal announcement of his re-election bid Monday evening at the Portuguese Social Club.

Grebien was elected in 2010. Among his accomplishments, he lists balancing the budget without tax increases and two upgrades to the city’s credit outlook by bond-rating agencies. He says he has also implemented a new recycling program and added firefighters and police officers.

He says although there are challenges ahead, the city is headed in the right direction.

Grebien’s Democratic opponent from 2010, former city council president Henry Kinch Jr., son of a former mayor, has said he may run again for the job.

Grebien won 64 percent to Kinch’s 32 percent in 2010.
