WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say the deaths of three people found in a home in a retirement community near Wilmington appear to be a murder-suicide.

New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon says the three were found on Friday inside a gated community in Porter’s Neck. The sheriff would not say how the three died.

But a release form the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday said the evidence indicates the deaths were a murder-suicide. The dead have been identified as Darrell and Linda Simpson, both 79, and 59-year-old Steven Heald.

The sheriff’s office said more information will be released on Monday after autopsies on the victims have been conducted.
