GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) - A woman had to be rescued in the northeastern North Dakota town of Minto after driving into floodwaters.

KFGO radio reports (https://bit.ly/1lVan56 ) that U.S. Highway 81 was shut down due to ice jam flooding on the Forest River on Thursday but the woman drove into the water anyway.

More than a dozen homes were surrounded by water Thursday, but the Walsh County Sheriff’s Office said early Friday that the situation was calming down. The river peaked Thursday and was dropping Friday.

The state Transportation Department said Highway 81 was reopened Friday morning after floodwaters receded.
