HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Close Hatches won the $600,000 Apple Blossom Handicap for older fillies and mares by 1¼ lengths at Oaklawn Park on Friday.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, Close Hatches ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.75 and paid $3.40, $2.40 and $2.10 as the 3-5 favorite.

Defending champion On Fire Baby returned $3.20 and $2.60, while Stanwyck was another length back in third and paid $3 to show.



The victory, worth $360,000, increased Close Hatches’ career earnings to $1,847,300, with seven wins in 10 career starts. She’s 2-0 this year.
