NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut jury has found a man guilty of murder in the 2009 shooting death of his wife of three weeks.
Chihan Eric Chyung of Norwalk had claimed that he shot his wife by accident.
Twelve jurors in New London Superior Court returned the verdict Tuesday, the day after they began deliberations. Chyung was found guilty of murder and manslaughter in the June 2009 killing of Paige Anne Bennett at their Norwich home.
Chyung testified that his 9 mm pistol accidentally fired when he was packing it into a suitcase while he and Bennett were arguing. Bennett was fatally shot in the head.
Prosecutor David J. Smith told the jury during his closing argument Monday that the killing was intentional.
