KABUL, Afghanistan — NATO says three international troops have been killed when an individual wearing an Afghan National Security Forces uniform shot them in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday.

Afghan Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, a Defense Ministry spokesman, confirmed the incident, saying the attack took place in Gardez, capital of eastern Paktia province. He says the ministry is investigating the attack.

In a statement NATO said officials from the international force are working with Afghan officials in the investigation. The NATO statement did not reveal the nationality of the slain servicemembers.
